Highland Children's Forum
Role: Administrator
Highland Children’s Forum is a registered charity, created by the parent carers of children with additional support needs. The Forum aims to ensure that the voices of these children are heard in the design and provision of services in the area. The Forum concentrates its activities on developing ways to hear the voice of children in need and to relay this to central policy authorities. It seeks to influence changes in policy to bring about better outcomes for children and young people. Although new to this organisation I will be assisting the Children’s Consultation Worker with events and administration.
Highlands and Islands Social Enterprise Zone (HISEZ)
Role: Development Officer
The Highlands and Islands Social Enterprise Zone (HISEZ) is a social enterprise support agency based in Inverness, covering the Highlands and Islands from Argyll & Bute to Orkney & Shetland. HISEZ is ideally located to provide advice and guidance to social enterprise organisations who are looking to expand and develop or for aspiring organisations interested in exploring the social enterprise option. I have been involved with developing the website, newsletters and networking events across the Highlands.
Cromarty Film Festival
Role: Administrator
Your "Favourite Film Festival" was back last December with another fantastic lineup of films and special guests including leading film directors Paul McGuigan and Gillies McKinnon. Also, actors Sanjeev Kohli, Paul Riley, Johnny Meres and, we even have the multi-talented Ricky Ross and Lorraine McIntosh of Deacon Blue, Radio Scotland and River City fame.
And that wasn't all, leading film producer Andrea Calderwood and politician Charles Kennedy MP also joined us as special guests. So, with an intriguing programme that combined both classic film with our special guests' favourites, 2010 once again turned out to be another festival worthy of an Oscar nomination!
Promoters Arts Network
Role: Area Development and Event Coordination
PAN is an independent organisation supporting its members who promote touring arts events in the Highlands and Islands of Scotland. PAN venues promote good quality theatre and music from the Highlands and Islands, the rest of Scotland, elsewhere in the UK, Europe, and around the World. PAN provides invaluable (and enjoyable) networking opportunities at the Spring and Autumn Forums; is a source of knowledge about every aspect of promoting; informs its members about available touring companies and events; develops its members through training sessions, projects, and seminars; negotiates group discounts and represents its members at regional and national level. I was involved with the area development Pilot project in the Black Isle and Easter Ross as well as organising networking Forums.
Inverness Old Town Art - Re:Imagining the Centre
Role: Project Manager
A multi-dimensional artwork created for and staged within the traditional heart of the city of Inverness, Re-Imagining the Centre grows out of the three year public art experiment which has seen artists working alongside local people to redefine their city for the contemporary era. Between the 8th - 13th September 2009, more than 20 artists presented works within the public spaces of the 'Highland Capital'. Some projects were quiet and required searching out, others loudly demanded attention and participation, and all celebrated the re-emergence of the city centre after three long years of transition. I was involved to work with the artists to ensure the delivery of each individual project which involved liaising with the Council, police, fire brigade and local business owners as well as assessing the artists needs.
Various other organisations I have worked with:
Firefly Productions
Summer Isles Foods
Artsplay Highland
